In the instances when POC say shit like ‘Oh I can’t stand white folk’ or ‘Damn white people’, they aren’t saying ‘Oh I think they are inferior, I want to humiliate them, abuse them, enslave them and wipe out their people!’, they’re saying ‘Damn, after a couple hundred years of white people thinking I’m inferior, humiliating me, abusing me, enslaving me, and trying to wipe out my people, I don’t wanna deal with them.’ The context is completely different.

Hey, it’s our newest issue! Here’s the cover story.

…our elected leaders just want everyone to just “say no.” They do not want to give education to those who most desperately need it. They want to keep them ignorant and reproducing. Let me teach them something: What do you call a father who teaches abstinence-only sex education? “Grandpa.

Eight female state senators in Georgia walked out of the Senate chambers on Thursday to protest two bills that hinder access to abortion and contraceptives. All eight female democratic senators left the chambers together after two bills they oppose passed the Republican-led Senate. From Atlanta’s WXIA, the legislation:

  • Prohibits state employees from using state health benefits to pay for abortions
  • Does not allow employees of private religious institutions to demand that their insurance policies pay for contraceptives

“We stood together to protest what we feel is absolutely a war on women here in Georgia and we want to sound the alert to Georgians,” said Sen. Nan Orrick.

Republican state senator Joshua McKoon said of the legislation, “What I would say is the war that’s being waged is on a relative minority in this country that has strong beliefs that are protected by the First Amendment.”

The bills now heads to the House, whereboth are expected to pass.

The senators who walked out: Sen. Gloria ButlerSen. Gale Davenport, Sen. Nan Orrock, Sen. Freddie Powell SimsSen. Donzella James, Sen. Miriam Paris, Sen. Valencia Seay and Sen. Horacena Tate. Looks like I’ll be spending my Friday night emailing these senators to thank them for taking a stance on an incredibly important issue.

..did I reblog this already?  Well, doesn’t matter, I’m going to reblog it again…

Look at their faces. They’re furious. Also, why is “War on Women” displayed as a puzzled inquiry? It should go without saying that women are suddenly under attack.

Hey youcrashstanding!  I’m not sure if you’ve seen this or not, but I believe you were looking for the names of the senators who walked out.

I just emailed all of them, thanking them for their courage.

This is the first time I’ve been proud to be from Georgia in AGES! :D YOU GO GIRL!

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R) offered up some advice for women who don’t want to have a mandatory ultrasound before they terminate their pregnancy: Don’t look at it. Now Democrats are pouncing, holding up the line as evidence of the GOP’s continuing insensitivity toward women.

The quote in question came after Corbett was asked at a press conference whether “making [women] watch” an ultrasound went “too far.”

“I don’t know how you make anybody watch,” Corbett said. “You just have to close your eyes.

Only if you can explain to me how jerking off or having a period aren’t killing a potential human. The fact that you aren’t having sex right now is preventing a potential human from being born.

Could you explain to me why pro-lifers care more about potential humans than existing ones? Why they aren’t holding rallies outside of army recruiters and prisons that have the death penalty? Why they care more about a potential human than the fully formed living human it’s inside of? I’d really like to know.
